JULIE TREE FUND

This fund is used solely to hire live musicians for each MTKC production.

A live pit orchestra, whether it consists of 4 musicians or 20,

takes our performances to a dramatically higher level of professionalism.

We are committed to using the full orchestration,

as originally intended by the composers.

We are also committed to having student musicians

fill at least 25% of our orchestra positions.

"Continue the Tradition"

Julie Danielson has served as resident music director for Music Theatre Kansas City

since 2001.  Under her direction, the sound of her choruses has blossomed

into the centerpiece of each production.

In 2008, Julie organized and conducted the first full pit orchestra for an MTKC production.

It is now a tradition that audiences have come to expect, appreciate, and love.

Working with a live orchestra is an incredible opportunity for our students and

it also allows us to reach out to another community of young artists.

We proudly hire local professional musicians and pay them a respectable wage

for their artistic contributions to our production.  We also require at least 25% of our musicians to be high school / college students.

MTKC is determined to continue this tradition for years to come.

Hermes Landscaping of Kansas City donated a tree and it is planted it in Julie's honor

outside the theater at Baker University.
